About the Big Bend Florida Unit
The Big Bend Florida Unit # 153 is a very active unit with 45 regular members and 15 affiliate members for 2011-2012. The membership area primarily is in the Big Bend area of Florida and nearby south Alabama and Georgia. We will have eight scheduled rallys in 2011-2012 as well as the Christmas Dinner December 11. During 2010-2011, 18 members participated on four different National Caravans and 22 participated in three national rallies. Many members also regularly attend the Florida State. Region 3, and International Rallys. This year two Unit caravans are scheduled, one to Savannah, GA and the other to Myrtle Beach, SC.
Six members, Jim and Sheila Skipper, Winston and Carol Montague, and Jay and Elna Thompson are active National Caravan leaders while Larry and Carol Strong have led several in the past.
Also, several members belong to the Vintage Club and travel in their restored vintage rigs.
Our Unit is a mix of people of various backgrounds, some retired, some still working, all of whom enjoy the camaraderi of traveling and camping in our Airstreams.
