Take a look at the “Rally Calendar 2009″ tab on our website. The schedule is there and when a particular rally is selected, information about that rally appears. Also if you click on the “map”, the location and map in Google Maps appears. Included is information on the campground such as phone number, etc. Rally hosts, if you want more information (menu, schedule, etc) posted, please contact me and I’ll put it on the webpage. Jay

The November newsletter is on the website. John Duncan’s first newsletter can be downloaded from the website and read. He has done a good job with his first one, Keep it up! Pictures of the installation rally are also on in the “Pictures” section.

Region 3 SW Georgia Caravan

A new caravan is being offered which will explore the western part of Georgia. Julian Clements is setting it up and it will be a good short caravan which is also close to us. The following is Julian’s description.

“Region 3 SW Georgia Caravan will be April 26th to May 14th, 2009. We will meet at Twin Oaks Campground in Hawkinsville, GA with stops in Cordele, Albany, Columbus and Pine Mountain. We will be touring harness racing farms, train to Plains, Andersonville National Historic Site, The Parks at Chehaw, Albany aquarium, Westville 1850’s living museum, Providence Canyon, Callaway Gardens and Warm Springs Historic Village. Several meals are planned and deposit is $250 with kitty fee TBD, limit 10 rigs. Contact: Julian Clements, email dandylynne@alltel.net , (706) 244-2129.”

The October/November newsletter is on the website. This is the last newsletter to be written by our current president, Walter Culley. Kathy and Walter have done a great job this year of presenting the newsletters. We will look forward to the efforts of John and Gayle Duncan in 2008/2009.

The September Newsletter is on the web page in the Newsletters category. It is divided into two parts, the first is pages 1, 3, and 3 while the pictures are listed on a separate page. Eventually Walter will learn how to reduce the size of his pictures (or we will outlast him with a new President).

Big Bend Members at the source of the Mississippi River

These Big Bend members are on the Great River Road Caravan and started with a visit to the source of the river. As you can see, the weather is cool, but the companionship is warm. The members are: Judy and Dick Martiny, Carol and Winston Montague, Elna and Jay Thompson, and John Thompson

News from the Big Bend Members on the Yellowhead and More Caravan

Several members of the Big Bend Florida Unit are on the Yellowhead and More Caravan. They are Sheila and Jim Skipper, Nancy and Ken Davis, Carol and Winston Montague, John Thompson, and Elna and Jay Thompson. Several affiliate members are also on the caravan. They are: Judy and Dick Martiny, Lotus and Vic LaRocca, and Mary Ann and Jack McGloughlan

We have put pictures of our travels on a web page for your viewing. the web page’s address is: web.me.com/elnaandjay. The page is titled “Winston’s Pictures”. Also on gallery.me.com/elnaandjay and this one is labeled as “Summer 2008″.

We are currently in Juneau, Alaska with the temperature in the low 50’s and RAIN!

Meet our newest member Martina Pelley

Our newest member, Martina Pelley attended the rally at Eagles Roost last weekend. This rally was the very first one she has ever attended and she said she enjoyed it and is looking forward to the next one. Her picture is on the “Photos of Unit Members” page and her birthday was celebrated at the rally, May 18. She lives in Hawthorne Florida, near Gainesville and is a graduate of the University of Florida (1985).

Our President, Walter Culley was elected to be Region 3’s 2nd Vice President

Our President, Walter Culley was elected as the 2nd Vice President of Region 3! This is an honor to both Walter and our club. He will take office in July and assume the responsibilities as the Region V.P. at that time. This role can lead to his becoming the Region 3 President becoming only the second person from our unit to attain this honor. Mac McCauslin was the Region 3 President 1991-1992.

Let’s all congratulate Walter and provide assistance to him.
